Wednesday’s Photos
Rhododendron’s Paradise
Not too far from Fauquier lives a couple originally from Germany, who are very good friends of ours. Klaus and Erika built their little paradise away from the noisy hustle and bustle of the big cities. Their log house and their garden are surrounded by cedar and fir trees granting them total privacy with the exception of bears, squirrels and racoons which often pay them a visit, especially when the walnuts are getting ripe. Their property, directly located at the Arrow Lake, fits the title of my photo series to a T. Last week this lovely couple invited us to taste their home made rhubarb pie and to view the flowering rhododendrons in their yard. Here is a sample of the photos I took that memorable afternoon. Enjoy.
So much beauty! The colours!!!

Beautiful! And can’t believe you got a bumblebee in motion, that’s cool! 🙂

It was a fluke shot. I was snapping away in rapid succession and one out of perhaps twenty turned out to be very satisfying.

HOW did you do that?

There were lots of bumblebees buzzing around the rhododendron flowers. So I snapped one photo after another and got lucky with one in midair. The photo I published also has been greatly cropped.

That’s also the way I do it: Producing a mass of photos and getting lucky…or not.

Lieber Dieter, vielen Dank für dein Kompliment! Biene hat weiterhin viel Ärger mit ihrem Laptop. Auch von ihr hoffentlich bald mehr. Peter

The flowers are so colorful, Peter. My favorite one style second one. It needs special skills to capture the bee, since I found them flew quickly anytime I tried to capture them.
