No, it isn’t spring yet in our northern latitudes. Charles, a dear blogging friend, after honestly praising my snow and ice photo essay yesterday, suggested nevertheless to post a flower, which would bring some comfort to all, who are presently suffering from the dismal cold. Hopefully, this violet will be the signal for spring to arrive soon.
a beautiful sight indeed 🙂

I took this photo last year during early spring. I hope to see them soon again.

Peter, what a beautiful violet! With our long Alaskan winters, I sometimes long to see some green in the midst of all the beautiful snow. Thank you for the touch of Spring!

Yes, the hint of spring is in the air. Alas it’s a photo from last year.

Thank you Peter. This is a welcome sight and a promise of things to come. Now I have to break up a heavy coating of ice on my sidewalk and driveway as we had a small ice storm. We are due for 2 – 4 inches of snow this afternoon into early eve. Snow on top of ice as you know is not a good thing. So I will take one more look at the flower and off I go.

Good luck and best wishes! Shovelling is also almost a daily chore for me.

Wild violets are some of my favorites. Do you guys get the white ones also?

Yes, but I like the violet ones best.

Beautiful- and a lovely busst of colour and July even in NZ (where we are blanketed in cloud and awaiting the remnants of a tropical cyclone)

We already have spring – but many people feel that it is way too early for these temperatures and that it feels simply wrong,

The worst part could be that you are getting another severe cold spell in March and all the plants and flowers that started growing would be wiped out.

That could be the case!

Spring–that’s a foreign concept around here! Like you, we are covered in snow, though not as deep as yours.
