Reflections, Lake Impressions and Wildlife
Today’s focus is on the beauty of the Arrow Lake on, in and near the water. Reflections are forever fascinating, especially when you watch them in a light breeze, which adds motion to the wavy water surface. While relaxing at the beach on Father’s Day last Sunday, mama merganser with her little brood came by close enough for me to take a picture of the same merganser family, we had observed the week before. I captured the two bears on my camera a couple of years ago also in the spring. It is quite rare to see two different coloured bears together. Enjoy.

Wow, is that a grizzly and a black bear together? Or just two different colored black bears?
The photographs capture the beauty and serenity of your area, making it look like a paradise on earth.

That’s what I figured. Plus grizzlies have a different shaped head, as I recall. I’ve never seen a brown “black” bear before!

These are all terrific shots, the first one with the tree limb makes a nice image of a miniature mountain

I often see mountains in tree stumps. It is all a matter of perspective. Indeed sometimes I lie on my belly to get a good shot in.

Bears are normally quite peaceful and don’t bother you, unless they perceive you a threat to their cubs. Thank you for the kind comment, Hazel!

They were very close, perhaps 20 m or so. I stepped out of the car to get a better angle to shoot from. Bears are generally not aggressive, unless they have cubs.

Beautiful photos. I love it when the chicks ride on mamma’s back, but there are too many for all to to fit in this instance. And seeing the two differently colored bears together must have been very memorable.

These are beautiful as always Peter. Living in a country that has no wild animals larger than a possum, I’m totally in awe of the bears.

Oh, yes, bears are quite frequent visitors. In the fall they can be a real nuisance, as they climb into our fruit trees and break the branches.

“Reflections are forever fascinating…” Indeed they are, and the rhomboid shape created by the dead tree and its reflection works quite well. Also effective, as you said, are the wind-whipped ripples on the lake’s surface.

OMG! Bears!! I really envy you, Peter! 😄 The last bear that dared setting foot in Germany (Bavaria) in the nineties was shot soon after. 😯
