Wednesday’s Photos
Reflections, Lake Impressions and Wildlife
Today’s focus is on the beauty of the Arrow Lake on, in and near the water. Reflections are forever fascinating, especially when you watch them in a light breeze, which adds motion to the wavy water surface. While relaxing at the beach on Father’s Day last Sunday, mama merganser with her little brood came by close enough for me to take a picture of the same merganser family, we had observed the week before. I captured the two bears on my camera a couple of years ago also in the spring. It is quite rare to see two different coloured bears together. Enjoy.
Indeed, the two coloured bears together is a rare sight!

Wow, is that a grizzly and a black bear together? Or just two different colored black bears?
The photographs capture the beauty and serenity of your area, making it look like a paradise on earth.

There two black bears in different colours. I would not dare to come that close to a grizzly bear. Thanks for the kind comment, Amy!

That’s what I figured. Plus grizzlies have a different shaped head, as I recall. I’ve never seen a brown “black” bear before!

These are all terrific shots, the first one with the tree limb makes a nice image of a miniature mountain

I often see mountains in tree stumps. It is all a matter of perspective. Indeed sometimes I lie on my belly to get a good shot in.

Peter, your photos are excellent and shine with the beauty of Arrow Lake, Those bears were close but seemed preoccupied with other things than you. Enjoyed all the photos. Thank you for sharing.

Bears are normally quite peaceful and don’t bother you, unless they perceive you a threat to their cubs. Thank you for the kind comment, Hazel!

You are welcome! I am not comfortable with bears due to many being mauled or killed in Alaska.

Hello, Peter, with today’s photos you are outdoing yourself! Splendid pictures! The first two are my favourites. A black bear and a brown bear, interesting, maybe they are overcoming their differences …

Thank you, Birgit! I am so glad you like this bears’ shot.

Actually, HOW close were you to them? They look awfully close to the camera man …

They were very close, perhaps 20 m or so. I stepped out of the car to get a better angle to shoot from. Bears are generally not aggressive, unless they have cubs.

Beautiful photos. I love it when the chicks ride on mamma’s back, but there are too many for all to to fit in this instance. And seeing the two differently colored bears together must have been very memorable.

Thank you for your interest, Peter.
You should be able to follow my blog just like any other. When you open one of my posts, in the right lower corner, a rectangular sign will show up that says “follow.” If you click it, that should work.
You could also type in tanjabrittonwriter into the search function of your reader, and my blog should show, together with a follow box.
Please let me know if that does not work. I am not aware of any problems following my blog.
Thanks again.

These are beautiful as always Peter. Living in a country that has no wild animals larger than a possum, I’m totally in awe of the bears.

Oh, yes, bears are quite frequent visitors. In the fall they can be a real nuisance, as they climb into our fruit trees and break the branches.

That really put into perspective my concerns about some native bird’s eating the fruit on my grapefruit tree 😀

Amazing shots, as usual Peter. But I must say that the first picture really attracts my eyes. The trunk reflection is wonderful.

“Reflections are forever fascinating…” Indeed they are, and the rhomboid shape created by the dead tree and its reflection works quite well. Also effective, as you said, are the wind-whipped ripples on the lake’s surface.

Wonderful pictures, Peter! I especially liked the one of the bird with her little babies swimming along behind her!

I almost did not publish the merganser photo, because it is slightly out of focus. Thank you, Ann! I am glad your like pictures.

OMG! Bears!! I really envy you, Peter! 😄 The last bear that dared setting foot in Germany (Bavaria) in the nineties was shot soon after. 😯

So sad! Then Bavaria is longer a ‘wild’ country.
