Biene’s Owls

Wednesday’s Photos

For the next couple of weeks, I decided to stray away from the dominant Wednesday’s theme: Natural Splendour of the Arrow Lakes. With up to three feet of snow on the ground, it has become extremely difficult to get to our favourite photo locations. Also when I had mentioned that my wife is doing rock painting in her spare time, many blogging friends asked me to publish some of her work. Most recently, Ulli, who lives in the Black Forest region of Germany, wondered if I could present some of the owls Biene had painted. The first picture has been painted on canvas. Other artwork and rock paintings will follow. Enjoy.

  1. Peter, I really like these! Biene was able to add some real depth to the eyes, which makes them seem more alive. I wonder if they scare off any of the local birds? Thanks for sharing them!

    Ulli

  3. Your wife’s paintings are beautiful, Peter! There is an owl who lives in a tree next door to us (maybe a distant relative to Biene’s model?) who begins to hoot ever night around 2AM. I think he / she is telling me that it is time to turn off the light and go to sleep!

  4. Biene has wonderful talent. At first glance, I thought they were real. The eyes were so realistic. Peter, thank you for sharing Biene’s artwork. It makes me smile! 🙂

I have boreal owls that roost in my yard and call out in the night. One summer, some owls raised their young on my deck.
