Wednesday’s Video
After the Rain
Today I am going to walk you through our yard and garden. You can describe the property as still being in the semi-wild state not typically found on the manicured lawns of city dwellers. After a brief look at our backyard, we enter the garden, which I have downsized by using only raised garden beds, a more age-appropriate gardening method for one approaching the octogenarian stage in life. Then we follow the rapid climb of our youngest son’s hops plants. It reached the present height in less three weeks holding the absolute growth record of all our plants. After looking at the blooming blackberry bushes, we are making a tour around my wife’s art studio with an apple, plum and pear orchard and fire pit area surrounding it. I also would like you to see the rose that finally made its appearance, coming in last after the magnolia, azalea and lilac flowers. Enjoy.
Great yard! 🙂 We can’t have one like this because of the deer. They’d eat everything.

For that very reason we have a fence all around our garden.

It’s impossible for us to fence all our property in. We could, of course, have a small fenced-in vegetable garden. But then, we’re not that keen gardeners.

Peter, all the wonderful vegetables and the fruit trees look great. The lettuce was begging to be used in a salad. Enjoy your summer and its bounty.

Thank you for the tour du yard! Your vegetables are coming fine, especially the lettuce. What do you do about snails? And the hops, wow, quite the climber, soon you can produce your own beer!
You have such a cosy place with many places to sit. I like it.

I remove the snails. Since there are only seven boxes, it is not too much work. I grow the hops for our youngest son. He is a craft beer brewmaster in Vancouver.

Thank you for the nice tour! The lettuces look terrific, and I enjoyed seeing your wife’s paintings of creatures on the rocks.

What an abundance of garden you and Biene have, thank you for the virtual tour. Somehow it reminds me of a German Bauerngarten.

That’s a lovely garden. I like the sit out amidst the green grass. Your yard is quite big.

When I saw the opening still frame from the video I thought I was looking at plants that had grown up in a railroad track.

The lettuces are as pretty as the roses. I’ll confess my favorite tiny detail was the ladybug rock — I couldn’t quite tell if the ladybug was painted on the larger rock, or if it was its own rock, placed atop the larger one. It’s cute as can be.
