Tall Grasses, Wildflowers and a Bumblebee
Whether you believe it or not after a very wet spring the grasses along the edge of the Fauquier Golf Course grew up to two metres tall. Since I prefer the landscape format in photography there was no way that I was able to capture their full height. But I was generally very pleased with the results, especially with the setting sun shining through the luscious stalks. The bumblebee feasting on a wildflower – I am sure my blogging friend Steve would know its name – was the icing on the cake. Enjoy.

For my wife and me it is serene and soothing to walk through these marvels of nature. Then we are inspired to capture the images on camera.

You’re fortunate to have fireweed up there. It was one of my delights when I visited Alberta, BC, and Montana in 2017.
Do you know why you prefer the landscape format?

Oh, that is easy to answer. Many of my better photos I often show to friends and family on the big TV screen. To maximize the available screen most of my photos are in landscape format and edited for 16:9 dimension.

Ah, so we might call that an extrinsic reason, rather than an intrinsic preference for horizontal over vertical.

It’s only a 9-hole course, but because of its location it is quite an attraction.

Wildflowers can be so beautiful! The one with the sun shining through the stilks is my favourite though … it is very special, one really has to see it and take the photo, a moment later it might be gone.

I enjoy grasses as much as flowers — and it’s double pleasure when the grasses are flowering. Lovely photos.

I have the same feelings about grasses. Sometimes I make a video of them swaying gracefully in the wind.

Peter, thank you for sharing all the beauty in your photographs. The grasses are beautiful. The pink fireweed is lovely along with the other flowers. Usually, we get huge fields of fireweed blooming, here in Alaska. However, a summer of rain every day has taken out many of the blossoms. Haze;

Bunblebees fotografiere ich eher wenig, da sie auf unserem Garten neben Honigbienen das Sagen haben.
