Rosehips, Geese and a Lonely Oak Leaf
The photos are about two or three weeks old. We had our first winter storm in mid-November with plenty of snow that threatened to stay. The rose hips scintillated with all the jewelry provided by the melting snow. The Canada geese nearby were searching successfully for green grass under the snowy blanket. What a delight it was for me to discover an oak leaf on the wintery golf course. Bedecked with raindrops and contrasting with the bright background the leaf at the end of its life cycle looked truly majestic. Enjoy.

I can understand why you like the leaf so much! The hips are always a welcome colour dash in the winter landscape. We did not have any snow yet, but as I mentioned before, the last many years we got the first snow in January/February. The seasons are moving …

Winter has been very kind to us so far. After the snow, rain always followed and melted most of it away. I hope we will have a white Christmas this year.

A nice season album, even brown and fallen, that oak leaf does look very handsome. The geese look good, too, but they bring thoughts of roast goose for dinner, somehow I don’t think the geese would think that was a very jolly idea!

I am so glad you liked the oak leaf so much, Robert. The Canada geese in our area are extremely wary and it is very hard to get close enough for a decent picture. Perhaps when they see a human being they sense the danger of being roasted in the oven.

Yes, we do! Although I like snow, enjoy color to brighten up things! There is always something hidden in plain view!

These are fabulous—-I think Su is right—the geese and the rosehips make a perfect Christmas card (as I am one to judge!). Do you exhibit your photos in any galleries, Peter? I am sure there is a market for them.

I’m most fond of the leaf, but the last photo of the geese and the lovely trees is exceptionally nice. I was surprised to see mention of rosehip jam, too. I didn’t realize such a thing was possible.

My wife tells me the jam tastes great but making it is very involved and laborious.

In the mountains yes but down in the valley all the snow has melted away one more time.
