Two Birds Feasting on Sunflowers
Today I was going to publish a few more pictures from our recent walk to the Fauquier boat dock. Some snow had fallen and stayed to create a wintery scene. But in the meantime, I caught two chickadees feasting on the sunflower seeds they had picked up at our bird feeders. So here is the video I created with some cheerful dinner music. Enjoy.
That’s a feathery sight.

Chickadees are among my favorite birds. I often see them at my feeders, but their habit is to pick up a seed, then fly off to eat it elsewhere. It was fun to see them at their dinner table.

These two little birdies were very cooperative and did not fly away to a distant hiding place.

Our state bird. They are one of the few birds that are easily attracted to us and one can have them alight upon your finger. They respond to what is known as “pishing”, the sound you make to attract. Holding seed in the palm of your hand works too.

They watch me fill the feeders. So they know pretty well and are not afraid of me when I stand right next to the feeder.
