Hoping for a Happy and Rewarding 2022

A challenging year lies behind us. First, a severe drought, devastating wildfires, evacuation of thousands of people, then one downpour after another, causing widespread flooding and destruction of crucial BC highways, hit our beautiful province of British Columbia. Finally in December, when everyone was preparing for a blessed and joyful Christmas Season, snow storms stopped normal traffic, and an arctic chill plunged the coastal regions into the deep freeze. Then there was Covid-19 creating unprecedented hardships in the entire world. Considering the impact of all these horrible calamities, my wife’s broken leg seems almost like a trivial event. However, it brought unexpected challenges to our personal lives. At first, Biene has been completely immobile. Our son Michael brought her a rented ‘scooter’ for Christmas. Now, she is happy to be able to move around the house with relative ease. The latest x-rays indicate that her broken bone is healing well. The air-cast is doing its job.

New Year’s Eve

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all my followers who expressed their feelings of compassion and concern for my wife’s health and well-being. It is also my hope that you all will understand my silence in the blogging sphere. A most challenging time lies behind us. Still, I am hopeful and cautiously optimistic for the year to turn out to be happy and prosperous for all of us.

  5. It’s good to see the smiles on your faces. While the world at large certainly has suffered this year, all of us live in many worlds at once, and the world you and Biene share is no less important than any other. Granted, it’s a little smaller than either of you’d like at this point, but when Biene’s leg heals, once again you’ll be able to be out and about in the natural world you love.

  6. Wishing you both a healthier and happier New Year to come, dear Peter. You both definately had a rough year behind you. but still smiling next to your Christmas Tree is wonderful to see. I love the image of your snow capped house, totally reminds me of Germany. Take good care of both yourselves.

  17. You may remember that in a comment I once made a play on words with Biene and Beine. Who would have expected the two to come together in the way they did? It’s great to hear that Biene’s broken leg is mending properly. Let’s hope the same for the other things that afflict the world.

    What 2021 is concerned you had a really difficult time!

    For me 2021 was a rather quite year. We lived a restricted life which I’m able to, my wife has a different attitude and tries more often to regain freedom.
    They say COVID will turn to something like flu, biut I’m not sure.
    I think we will have another year of restrictions…but I have music, art, ceramics, nature, reading, blogging … and a lovely wife.
