Natural Splendour of the Arrow Lake

Arrival of the Hummingbirds

Remember the portraits of that cute little junco which allowed me to take its pictures at close range. Now the juncos have left and moved on further north presumably to their nesting areas in the Yukon wilderness. With the arrival of spring and warmer weather we now enjoy the buzzing and flitting about of the humming birds. What a surprise to have one little critter posing for me! This is highly unusual as these restless birds never sit still in one place for any length of time. This bird’s bright colourful plumage almost iridescent in the sunshine indicate his gender. He must have observed me filling up the humming bird feeder with liquid energy. So he showed his gratitude by posing for me. Enjoy.
