On January 22, a crisp and bitter-cold winter day, my wife and I, faithful to our daily walking routine and abiding by our iron-clad rule, rain or snow, went down to the Fauquier golf course. Shivering a bit in the extreme cold, we marvelled at the glorious winter scenes.

Within two weeks, the thermometer jumped from -20 C to + 5 C, and moisture-laden clouds also brought lots of rain, washing away the virgin snow and exposing a green spring-like landscape.

Now, let’s have some sunshine, and we will dream about tulips, daffodils, and an early spring.
Spring will come soon, and after the terrible cold it will be stronger than ever!

Believe it or not, we’ve have unusually colder weather here in FL. I think Canada looks beautiful in your pictures!!

That is amazing! I heard the Canadian snowbirds (tourists) spend their winters in Florida to get over the winter blues.

It is probably spring-like weather here to Canadians. I’ll have to ask one of my neighbors when I get the chance.

Snow-covered conifers always look great.
Austin (Texas) took a similarly broad jump a few weeks ago, from -8C to 23C, though each of our extremes was warmer than each of your corresponding extremes.

I second what GP said. It’s been a weird winter in Florida. But no, we have not had snow!

Your first and last photos both are beautiful. They’re different aspects of a wonder, ever-changing world.

It looks like a case of weather whiplash, which seems to be the new norm in many places and is something all of us might need to get used to. Good for you for your wife or keeping to your walking routine, otherwise you would have missed the wintry scene.
I, too, am dreaming of spring flowers, but they won’t show themselves for several months.

Some people bring their tulip bulbs indoors and get over their winter blues.

I’m sure people must be delighted with the signs of spring. Is this a normal thing to happen during this time of the year or it is early this time?

No, it is not normal. February is usually one of the two coldest months of the year.

A 25 degrees’ jump, that is harsh, although the result is pleasant. 😉 We also thought that spring was her last week, but now? Snow and nightfrosts again. I cross fingers for you that it stays at minimum plus 5 at your end.

At least, you experince the joy of flowers blooming in your living room.
