Wednesday’s Photos
Still in the Grip of Winter
While day time temperatures have been climbing above the freezing mark, there is no real sign of spring except for a few tulips on the south side of our home, where they had come up with a few leaves to test for spring-like conditions. But the longer days adorned by plenty of sunshine and a splendidly blue sky make up for the snow and ice still present in the Arrow Lakes region, Here are the most recent photos of our excursions around the lakeshore. Enjoy.
Beautiful clear sky & water, Peter, much appreciated!
It looks like that oak leaf is melting its way down through the snow

Indeed, its dark colour absorbs the little heat there is to melt the snow.

What is that metallic ring?

People use at high water these rings to tie up their boats. I used one to make a frame for my photo.

Yes, you were clearly adept at improvising a circular frame. How good of people to have put it there for you.

I cropped away the bottom half of the ring to create the arch over the landscape. Thanks, Steve!

It looks so peaceful and serene, much like Jakarta which is eerily quiet these days with most people staying in their houses. Keep sharing beautiful photos of our planet, Peter. We really need to be reminded of why we should never take it for granted.

It is hard to find a favourite this time, they are all quite stunning. I love it when water is so still, it is so rare and makes beautiful reflections. But the perspectives you used on the metal ring photo (on your belly again??) and the tree are also very special.

No, this was not a belly shot. The metal ring was high enough, so I would not have to lie down on the icy ground. Thank you, Birgit!

These are beautiful Peter, and a welcome reminder of the world outside — which I won’t be seeing much of for the next four weeks.

Splendid images here, Peter, thank you for sharing. It’s a blessing to be out in nature, rejoicing the beauty of it, in this difficult times. I go for a walk everyday, as long as I can, and the nature fills me up with peace and joy for many moments. Stay safe and healthy my friend.

Those are terrific photos, Peter! There is a real beauty in Winter, even if it is my least favorite season. Here, we are beginning to see signs of Spring. My daffodils are all in full bloom!

Lucky you, Ann! For the daffodils to come here will be a while into the future, perhaps mid April. Thank you for your kind comment!

The blues in your photos are marvelous. When I saw the ring, I never thought of boats — I thought it looked like the ring on a hitching post for horses. I guess it is a hitching post of sorts!

The ring forming the frame had quite a few people puzzled. Thank you for the compliment!
