Recently, I published the iron ring at the Fauquier boat dock. Someone suggested I should have someone’s portrait to fill out the frame. After much coaxing, I got my wife to pose for you and me. I hope you like the photo as much as I do. Enjoy.
The boat dock beams lie high and dry on the beach, waiting for the water level to rise at the beginning of the spring run-offs. They are connected with iron rings that can be moved in all directions. I turned one ring toward Mt. Ingersoll and took this landscape photo. Enjoy.
Two weeks ago, I published two photos that added with the help of the rosehips and the pine tree a little bit of colour to the otherwise grey winter landscape. Many people also noticed the oak tree with the orange leaves. Who can solve the puzzle about the leaves still on this tree and also on all the maple trees here in our little community at the end of January? I have never observed this curious phenomenon before. Last week I posted flowers. I sense from your comments that you too enjoyed looking at their bright colours and beautiful shapes. Today I would like to focus on the landscape around the Arrow Lakes that is so delightful to view, especially in the fall. One month of winter is already behind us. Only two more to go until spring. Rejoice!
The sun shone brightly. No fog obstructed the view so my wife and I decided to travel again to the Summit and Slocan Lakes, which are part of the West Kootenays where we live. Our spontaneous decision did not disappoint us. What a change in the landscape we noticed within such a short time! As photographers we have often experienced how a scene can alter its appearance within just few minutes. When a cloud blocks the sun, it even happens at the blink of the eye. Enjoy.
Last week we were blessed with three days of perfect early fall weather that is typically described as Indian summer. The air was crisp. When the morning fog lifted from the valley, the sun brilliantly illuminated the landscape and the sky was finally blue, which we had been missing so much during the wildfires. We followed the lower Arrow Lake to the picturesque town of Nakusp, then turned south past Box Lake and stopped at the beautiful Summit Lake. Then we moved on to New Denver where we took in the sights of the the Slocan Lake with its Valhalla Mountains presenting a magnificent backdrop. Here is a small sample of our trip. Enjoy.
