Wildflowers in our Huckleberry Patch
On Monday, I invited my wife to look for huckleberries (wild blueberries) in a place at 900 m, where we used to find lots of these delicious berries in the past. Because of the wet and cold spring, we found only a few, barely covering the bottom of our pails. So our focus shifted to photographing the wildflowers that grew in great profusion. Daisies, Indian paintbrushes, tiger lilies, and many others dotted the unusually lush landscape for this time of the year. I captured my wife pointing the camera at some nearby paintbrushes.

Peter, although the huckleberries were not there, you were able to capture quite a few beautiful wildflowers. The photo of Biene is lovely.

Your wildflowers benefitted from the wet spring, but the berries didn’t. We had a dry spring and I have noticed a dearth of wildflowers around here, which is bad news for so many insects. I’m glad you get to enjoy the floral profusion.

Every year is different, but it seems you and Biene have perfected the art of enjoying what “is.” I especially enjoyed seeing the lily, and the look of smiling concentration on Biene’s face.

Wildflowers are certainly a good alternative to huckleberries. Of course both would be better.
