Two wildflowers eager to be captured
Going leisurely on a photography hunt around our yard, I discovered two flowers waving at me in the gentle morning breeze. Not being very good at identifying wildflowers, I used the app PictureThis on my iPhone.

Robert’s Herb

Two beautiful ones!

Yellow salsify was brought over to North America from Eurasia, so it’s possible you saw some, even unknowingly, while growing up in Germany

The leaves of Robert’s herb looked familiar. Sure enough, it’s in the geranium family. It’s scientific name is Geranium robertianum, and it’s related to our Carolina geranium: another low-growing, ground cover-like flower that’s just as small. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the salsify, but a friend who lives in Kansas talks about it as her “fancy dandelion.”
