Natural Splendour of the Arrow Lakes

Autumn Afternoon at Whatshan Lake

On October 15, a bright sunshiny day that felt more like summer than fall, my wife and I went again hunting for chanterelle at a nearby mountain lake. While we did not find many mushrooms so late in the season, we enjoyed a picnic at a tiny beach framed by forests and the brilliant blue sky. The sky’s reflections on the crystal-clear water transported us into a dream world rarely encountered on our troubled planet. Whether you believe it or not, Biene and I jumped into the lake for a very, very refreshing swim. Enjoy.

More Nostalgia and Dispelling the Winter Blues

Last week I posted flowers. I sense from your comments that you too enjoyed looking at their bright colours and beautiful shapes. Today I would like to focus on the landscape around the Arrow Lakes that is so delightful to view, especially in the fall. One month of winter is already behind us. Only two more to go until spring. Rejoice!

Tiny Mushrooms in Macro Photography

Two weeks ago my wife and I went on one last mushroom hunt. The mushroom buyers had closed their shops. So our focus was on eating them ourselves. We were hoping to find a few more chanterelles, since they are so healthy and taste so good. Alas, there was not even one chanterelle we could find. Instead I discovered these tiny beauties. Enjoy!

Whatshan Lake, the Little Gem in the Kootenays

Wednesday’s Photos

On a grey late October Day my wife, our youngest son, his partner and I went to explore the area at  Whatshan Lake. It is located north of Fauquier and only a few miles from the Arrow Lake. Although it was foggy, the light was perfect for taking some photos, which prove that the world can still be colourful so far advanced into the fall. I hope you will enjoy the sample of images.
