Nature’s Inspiring Wooden Sculptures
On a recent canoe ride going south from Taite Creek towards Octopus Creek, my wife and I spotted some amazing structures along the shoreline of the Southern Arrow Lake. These gigantic sculptures designed by Nature in pleasing forms and shapes of purest abstraction are a marvel to look at and enticed me to capture them with my Canon Powershot camera. April showers bring May flowers. We all know the saying. I collected a few photos, which lend support for its general truth. But here at the Arrow Lake I must add the humming birds, which visit our area with the regularity of a clock at the time the trees are beginning to bud. A dramatic cloud formation is nicely rounding off this week’s photo presentation. Enjoy.

On a recent walk along the beach with my wife I made some unusual discoveries. Guided by the theme ‘Curious Forms and Shapes’ I did not have to stretch the imagination to see a colossal head of stone above a hollow steaming under the burning afternoon sun. Then I viewed a craggy mountain created by an old tree stump, which was stretching into the blue sky above. Then I discovered a witch lying in the sand with her long nose sticking out and a striped cape covering head and shoulder. As you can see, all is a matter of perspective. All of these shots I took while lying down. Enjoy.
The lake level is dropping to make room for the annual spring run-off. This means that a strip of shoreline was without snow. My wife and I took this as an invitation for a walk on the stony beach section at our favourite place, which never fails to charge up our internal batteries. A strong wind earlier in the morning had whipped up considerable surf action. I captured the waves by lying on my belly very much to the amusement to my wife. Enjoy.
